This project started out with an old plastic Halloween skeleton. The paper mache pulp I use is particularly good at representing desiccated or deteriorating flesh and it really made the difference on this piece. Lots of smaller details were done with cold porcelain. Painting this was fun and the mermaid has a great, creepy feel to it in person.
